Star Seedswas created for Transversal(2025) a group residency and exhibition with Moving Image Lab Perth (MILP) at FORM Gallery, Claremont, Western Australia.
In a time of resource extraction, the project highlights our shared ‘ownership’ of culture, nature and Space with seed banks and Public Domain data preserved for humanity. While AI is touted as a shared resource the process of making was limited by the academic and economic restrictions to video AI tools. The animations created through frame-by-frame image generation produce a dynamic and aesthetic contrast to the smooth morphing of the AI video elements.
This installation inspired a paper for the International Symposium on Electronic / Emerging Art ISEA2026 that maps augmented experience as a communication tool. Framing interactivity as a means to established resonant understandings the work explores the relational poetics of interstellar and interspecies communication.
